No kid before the age of 25 (or older for many of us) can reliably make profound irreversible decisions which they are guaranteed not to regret. We’re all complete dipshits at that age. Obsessed with social concerns, while still developing cognitively and emotionally.

I’m not a doc but I can certainly understand how it’s easier to transition genders before puberty. But geez, what prepubescent kid can make that call, which is permanent if they take it all the way. I have a close buddy who is dealing with exactly your concern. He’s had long, arduous conversations with his eldest daughter. She still goes by her. But I think that’s now set to change. I think she did it as “right” as it could be done. Don’t know what treatment options she chose, or when, but since college, she’s looked a bit less like a girl than before. After college, she developed facial hair, and just recently, my buddy told me she’s taking it the rest of the way (at least having her breasts removed - I don’t know all the details).

She’ll be about 30 by the time she starts in with irreversible procedures. Hard to have any complaints with her overall approach, even if you’re JM. At this point she can be confident she didn’t simply have ideas put in her head while young, impressionable, and vulnerable.
